History Of Carolina Auction Team

Carolina Auction Team, Inc., was initially founded as Carolina Auction & Land Company, Inc.,  in the mid 1960’s in Orangeburg, South Carolina by the late Colonel J.L. Pinckney (1935-1986).

Colonel Pinckney was a member of the South Carolina Auctioneers Hall of Fame, a Charter Class Graduate of the Certified Auctioneers Education Institute and the Founding Chairman of the South Carolina Auctioneers Commission.  He organized, promoted and conducted hundreds of auction events, selling real estate, farm machinery, heavy equipment and a wide assortment of personal property.

The current President & CEO of Carolina Auction Team, Jim Smith, (REALTOR, GRI, CRB, CAI, AARE) was affiliated in the auction profession with the late Colonel J.L. Pinckney and has been affiliated with his brother and co-founder of the company, Colonel Carroll Pinckney, since the 1970’s.

 In The early 1980’s, the firm assumed its present name of Carolina Auction Team, Inc., reflecting the inclusion of additional formally trained, experienced, skilled auction marketing executives and affirming the teamwork approach applied today in every auction marketing event.

The firm’s focus then and now is on the sale of real estate & related personal property at auction.
